Step-by-step instructions to make this DIY pendant light :

Here are the step-by-step instructions to make a DIY pendant light using jute yarn and a vintage lampshade cage frame:

Cut 4 lengths of jute yarn that are twice the height of your lampshade cage frame.

Take one length of jute yarn and fold it in half. Tie a knot at the folded end, leaving a small loop.

Insert the loop through the top of the lampshade cage frame and pull the two loose ends through the loop. Pull tight to secure the jute yarn to the frame.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 with the remaining three lengths of jute yarn, spacing them evenly around the frame.

Once all four lengths of jute yarn are attached to the frame, divide each length into two sections and twist them together. This will create a thicker, sturdier cord.

Use a wire cutter to trim any excess wire from the top of the frame.

If your lampshade cage frame has a horizontal ring at the top, bend it upwards to create a hook for the pendant light.

Solder the wires from the pendant light kit to the four jute yarn cords. Use a small artist brush to apply water-soluble flux to the jute yarn cords where they will be soldered.

Heat the soldering iron and use it to melt a small amount of lead-free solder onto the jute yarn cords where they meet the wires from the pendant light kit. Let the solder cool and harden.

Once the solder is hardened, use finer grit sandpaper to sand down any rough edges and make the soldered connections smooth.

Thread the wires through the plastic pipe and attach the glass pendant dome to the bulb socket (if using).

Use a small paper clip to adjust the length of each jute yarn cord so that the lampshade hangs evenly.

Hang the pendant light from the hook at the top of the lampshade cage frame and enjoy your DIY creation!

Note: It's important to use caution when working with a soldering iron and to follow all safety instructions included with the iron.
