⅝ ” x 5-½” x 6′ Dog-ear Cedar Fence Picket (quantity depends on the size of your project)

2″ x 2″ Furring strips (quantity depends on the size of your project)

Wood glue

1¼” finish nails

1¼” Spax screws

Miter saw

Ryobi brad nailer

Drill

Steps:


Cut the furring strips to the desired length using the miter saw. These will be the supports for the cedar pickets.


Cut the cedar pickets to the desired length using the miter saw.


Apply wood glue to the back of each cedar picket.


Place the picket onto the furring strip so that the top of the picket is flush with the top of the furring strip.


Use the Ryobi brad nailer to secure the cedar picket to the furring strip with 1¼” finish nails. Nail the top and bottom of each picket.


Repeat steps 3-5 for each cedar picket, spacing them evenly along the furring strips.


Use the drill and 1¼” Spax screws to attach the furring strips to your desired location.


That's it! You now have a beautiful and unique project made from cedar fence pickets and furring strips.


4. Easy $20 DIY Outdoor Table





To build a simple $20 DIY outdoor dining table as shown in the video, you will need the following materials:


2x4 lumber: (2) 8-foot pieces and (4) 10-foot pieces

Wood screws (2.5 inch and 3 inch)

Waterproof wood glue

Polyurethane sealant (optional)

Sandpaper (80 grit and 220 grit)

You will also need the following tools:


Miter saw or circular saw

Drill

Clamps

Speed square

Measuring tape

The basic steps to build the table are as follows:


Cut the 2x4 lumber to the desired lengths using a miter saw or circular saw. You will need four pieces at 35 inches for the table legs, two pieces at 36 inches for the table cross supports, and four pieces at 70 inches for the table top.


Use wood screws and wood glue to attach the two 35-inch pieces to the two 36-inch pieces, creating two U-shaped leg assemblies.


Attach the two leg assemblies together using the 70-inch pieces to create the table frame.


Attach the four remaining 70-inch pieces to the top of the table frame using wood screws and wood glue, creating the table top.


Sand the table smooth using 80 grit sandpaper, and then finish with 220 grit sandpaper.


Apply a coat of polyurethane sealant (optional) to protect the wood from the elements.
